Folding fronts for soccer hall

TSV Friesenstolz Riepe planned to build a soccer hall for its club members and soccer teams so that they can train regardless of the weather. A cost-effective solution was sought, while ensuring permanent ventilation and simultaneous weather protection.

Solution

The result is a hall with artificial turf of 19 x 40 m with an eaves height of 5 m. Optimal ventilation and weather protection are provided by four-sided folding fronts with close-meshed fabric in grey. In the gable area, one folding front 4 m in height and 13 m in width, was installed, and two fronts of 12 m and one of 16 m in width were installed on the eaves sides, which are operated by means of an electric drive. For optical reasons, the drive unit was placed on the inside, so that only the textile curtain and the lateral guide rails are visible from the outside. The drive shafts are guided through holes in the supports on the eaves sides. Additional locking is not necessary despite the large openings.

Benefits

All four sides of the hall can be opened and closed independently depending on the weather. An additional ventilation effect is achieved by the use of the close-meshed fabric with wind breaking of about 92 %. At the same time, enough daylight enters the building. Integrated cross straps and rollers in side guide rails ensure high wind load absorption, and the use of sealing lips on the sides prevents drafts from entering. The well thought out hall construction and the fronts create optimal conditions and offer unique soccer and sports fun on a modern indoor pitch.
