Situation
H&R Refining GmbH, based in Salzbergen, is a subsidiary of Hamburg-based H&R Group, a renowned global manufacturer of speciality chemicals. At the Salzbergen refinery site, numerous lorries are dispatched daily in addition to the actual production and the incoming of goods. The heavily frequented entrance areas pose a particular challenge. Despite the high frequency of use, the hall openings had to be protected against birds flying in and the resulting mess. At the same time, the function of the neighbouring air and heat exchangers could not be impaired under any circumstances. The task was therefore to develop a solution that would fulfil the hygiene requirements and at the same time ensure undisturbed ventilation.
Solution
After detailed consultation with the engineers at HUESKER Synthetic GmbH, H&R Refining decided in favour of using textile system solutions from the Tectura range. Two Tectura folding fronts measuring 7 m × 5 m were installed at each of the lorry entrances. The fabric type 60/60-1 in black was used. The PES/PVC material used is highly resilient, resistant to weathering and ideal for daily opening and closing cycles. The folding fronts can also be opened and closed as required, providing flexible access for lorries at all times. The robust design and installation in aluminium guide rails ensure safe operation even under heavy use. Type 25/25-25 textile façades were also installed at various other openings. The tensioned versions ensure constant ventilation and at the same time provide reliable protection against birds.
Advantages
- Effective protection: Reliable defense against birds and dirt while ensuring ventilation at the same time.
- Flexibility in operation: The folding fronts can be opened and closed daily; passages remain usable at all times.
- Cost-effectiveness: Customised textile systems are lightweight, easy to install and cost-efficient compared to conventional constructions.
- Robust and durable: The PES/PVC fabric is characterised by high wind load absorption, is low-maintenance and has a long service life.
- Customised solution: Combination of folding fronts and mesh variants that are precisely adapted to local requirements.
